Abstract
This study examines the relationship between cultural tourism and community development in Umuagbom Community in Imo State. However from the study certain dimensions where determined on cultural tourism and community development via New Yam Festival, Age Grade in correlation with infrastructure, educational advancement, social amenities. Thus, with the necessary information collected from the study department through survey method, questionnaire and personal observation. The sample size 382 was determine using Taro Yemen's formula @ 0.05 level of significant.Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that though cultural tourism in Umuagbom community serve as a means of community development, the level of this development is just to a low level extent. The implication of this is that a sustainable and reliable source of cultural tourism should be upheld and practice among the community to effectively increase the development of the community more. The researcher recommends that the New yam festivals should be made more attractive to the people and togetherness of the community can help achieve this.The community should promote their cultural heritage either through the media or otherwise.
